Empathy - The key to Human Connections

Training | Consultancy | Research

Empathy is the key to creating the built environment that properly connects with the people who live and work in and around it. Disability is a ‘continuum’ that any one of us can experience at any time during our life, even for short periods of time. We need society and attitudes to change to address ‘Universal Design’ and aim towards ‘Universally inclusive design’ where products, services and environments are accessible, acceptable and usable by the widest audience possible.

This truly ‘universal design’ approach, when adopted within the workplace, public services and schools, breaks down the ‘exclusion barriers’ and by enhancing peoples understanding and developing empathy, we connect better with our colleagues and peers, enhancing the Human Connections.

We offer evidence based training and consultancy working with institutions, places of learning, architects, designers and other professionals involved in the built environment; residential, retail, commercial, education and healthcare. The business is lead by Kim Hutton, a chartered neuro-physiotherapist for over 35 years, with specialisms working at Great Ormond Street Hospital and St.Mary’s Paddington. Subsequently Kim is now a Human Factors Engineer and Ergonomist, with a recently completed MSc Distinction from Loughborough University. We will continue to carry out research with industry and commercial partners to further develop empathetic modelling.
